Here Comes The
eBay Radio Party!
June means it's time to
party in Las Vegas - with about 150 of your best eBay friends. OK, so
you might just learn a thing or two as well....
Recently signed on as sponsors
are the two eBay services in the news these days: Auctiva and Vendio.
So, if you want to find out first hand which service makes the most
sense for your eBay sales, here's your chance to ask their representatives
questions.
Plus, you'll be able to
attend, in person, a live eBay Town Hall meeting. Of course there are
many great presentations packed into these two days. For more
information about signing up and joining the party - see below.

We've set up a discussion forum on the Web
Sellers Circle to help coach eBay members on their business plan
and video questions so you'll be prepared to send in your
submission.
What's Happening
On The Web Sellers' Circle
Things are moving along for
the Web Sellers' Circle membership site. When I return from the Radio
Party our first live call will be about goal setting for your
business using the SMART technique. The SMART technique is a goal
setting technique especially useful for businesses who are established
and are ready to take the next business step.

Sheryl Schuff, CPA & MBA is our resident bookkeeping and
accounting expert. We're recording the training series on
business start-up and getting the books in order.
---
The forums are hopping -
some of the recent topics include:
-
Selling Valuable Books On eBay
-
Shopping Carts
-
New Courses on Bookkeeping
-
eBay Logo & Template Advise
more...
Let me take a
second to answer that BIG question on your mind:
I know many readers are
wondering why you'd want to subscribe to The
Web Sellers Circle, especially if you belong to other membership
sites. That's a great question. Let me address your concern.
In business, it's very
common to subscribe to more than one trade magazine, or association.
We do that because each subscription offers a unique focus on the same
topic. For instance, I'm a photographer and sell photography
equipment. I read several magazines about photography, plus I buy
photo books by the dozen and I belong to groups and
associations, both online and off.
Do they all cover the same
topic? Yes.
Do I learn something for
each subscription? Yes!
Each subscription or
association speaks to me from their unique point of view.
At the Web
Sellers Circle we want to help your business by using our
backgrounds as Business & Retail Merchants. We've been in
the retail, both as owners and managers for over thirty years -
combined that's 60 years (something I really don't wanna think
about - LOL). The last decade both Dany & I have been using
the Internet to build our businesses- via eBay, Amazon, our own
website, blogs, video, webinars and information products to name a
few.
We want to help you with the
common questions and concerns you face as a business online.
Not only that, we're actively
looking for Industry Leaders and Certified Professional who can help
fill in the gaps in your business training. You may know how to market
the heck out of your eBay Store - but if you can't buy products at a
good mark-up it doesn't matter. Or, if you don't know how to use the
tools to figure your profits and loses - you aren't going to be in
business long.
Sexy stuff? No, not
really.
Important knowledge you need
to know to grow a thriving online business? YES!
Nope, we're not going to wow
you with the promise we'll make you rich overnight - but we are there
to help you if you'd like the freedom to run a business the way that's
right for you.
We know there are many
Internet Guru's out there - many famous, some just big fish in little
ponds. Their fame doesn't really matter though, you need to think
about what they teach you - and if they speak to you in your language
- you can probably learn from them.
We don't call ourselves
"gurus." Personally, I'd prefer to be called a small
business person. Dany and I set up this subscription site to
help others put the pieces together as they build their dream of
independence from the nine to five paycheck.
To answer the question of
whether or not you will find value in The Web Sellers Circle we're
offering a $1.00 - twenty-one day trial. That takes the risk out of subscribing
- and offers you a chance to see our unique perspective on the topic
of running a Small Business.
Here's the link to check it

Hope to see you there.

Test Listings On eBay
In preparation for the eBay Radio Party, I
found myself in a little hot water with eBay
Last weekend I wanted to test some photos on the site. I listed
a few shoe photos in the shoes category on eBay. No sooner had they been listed then I received a call from someone at eBay.
The eBay representative asked me why I was listing something that wasn't for sale. Then
she told me it was a policy violation to do test listings in any other category than the 'test' category. She was nice about it, instead of giving me a VeRO violation she let me change the category.
So, if you occasionally test your listings, or are working with a student, be sure your test listings go under:

Amazon Conference - July
Colin Sebastian, Digital Media & Internet analyst at Wall Street firm Lazard Capital Markets, estimates that Amazon.com's third-party
sellers will generate nearly $9 billion in gross merchandise sales in
2009. This is up from roughly $7 billion in 2008.
If you want to learn more about getting on board
in this hotly growing sales venue and great jumping off point is
the Independent Sellers Conference next month.
This is the independent conference for entrepreneurs who utilize amazon.com as a sales platform.
Dates = July 10-13 2009
Place - Seattle Airport Marriott and Amazon HQ
This conference is presented to allow sellers to network, learn, and grow their online businesses. Executives from
amazon.com will be on hand to lead sessions, answer questions and receive feedback.
Website: http://www.scoe.biz
Location: Kirkland, WA
I've just received a special offer for those who
are late to sign-up. The fee to attend now is $325 - but, if you
use this special link: http://www.scoe.biz/REFERRAL.html
you can still register for $250.00.
This is an affiliate link - if you write in that I
referred you - I'll receive $25.00. But that's not why I'm telling
you about the link. I want you to be able to attend this
important conference at the best possible price. So, what I'm going to do is donate
all money I receive from the referrals to my favorite charity - NOAA
Animal Center.
Wonder Why These Newsletters
Occasionally Give You An Active X Warning?
Several subscribers have mentioned that when they
open this email, they get a pop-up notice warning about an 'Active
X' control.
I know it sounds scary, but in most cases active x
controls are benign.
However, a few bad guys have discovered how to
install viruses on computers via the Active X control so your
software or Explorer warns you whenever one needs to be installed.
The email service I use for this newsletter
tracks your clicks. (in fact all newsletter services track user
clicks). I want to know what you're interested in so we can
continue providing that kind of content.
I'm not really sure why this happens, but when I
embed a video - like the one I put in about Bonanzle from YouTube
in the last edition, the video triggers the active x control
warning.
I've been tracking to see which is more effective:
the videos I include in this newsletter that is just a thumbnail
that one must click on to go to the site and view - or the
ones that I embed directly into the email (which triggers
the active X warning).
It seems most people prefer to view the video
directly inside the email. So, for now I'm perplexed. Should I
continue to embed video and worry the few users who get Active X
warnings? Or, should I go back to the less effective thumbnail
that leads users to an outside video hosting website?
Let me know
which you'd prefer.
Watch Your Mailbox On Tuesday
I don't normally send out email
pitch letters - but I've been invited to join a very exciting book
launch (almost as exciting as mine - LOL). And, to be honest, I
can hardly wait to buy my copy of the new book - I love her
stories. (hint, hint)
On Tuesday one of eBay's Royalty is
having a very exciting 48 hour big bonus offering to launch her
book. Please keep an eye out for an email from me.
Of course, all participants are
invited to be affiliates of the launch, in the interest in
transparency I am too. So, if you click on the link in the email I
send you and decide to purchase - I'll make a small
commission.
But, I tell you what. I promise to
to write an article on The Web Sellers Circle explaining exactly
how these sorts of partnerships can help build your business and
give you a step by step guide on how it works so you can use it
when you're ready to launch your product or service.
One Last
Word
Don't forget our dollar offer!
Dany and I have a simple offer - please give
The Web Sellers Circle a try
for 21 days for $1.00. We're confident you'll find value with the
material, the networking opportunities, and the forum discussions.
