I hope this finds you
all well, safe and dry. For those outside the Northwest - please
keep a warm thought for us. Following our crazy snowstorm came the
most amazing rainfall. Monson almost. Some parts of Washington
State received over 6 inches of rain in one day. Combined with
melting snow - we've had a mess. I'm one of the lucky ones - I
live on a hill, but the nearby Snohomish river is higher than I've
seen it in years. Enough about the weather, let's start the
newsletter.
"If selling used goods in a category where there's a lot of competition, price yourself in the middle of current sales price range and use a fixed price format. The most expensive prices rarely get a sale, but the least expensive prices don't do well either. The ones starting at a penny or $.99 rarely sell for enough to make the seller a profit (even if the seller gouges on shipping). Those that are priced in the middle look like good values and sell at their fixed price.
If you have an item that has sold for $30 - $50 recently, price yours at $40 or $42.50 rather than trying to get top dollar (especially if you have only a small amount tied up in the item). I see listings sit for months because a seller is determined to get top dollar even though he bought the item for $3 at a garage sale."
Thanks for the great tip Carol. I
struggle when trying to figure out how to price collectibles. I'm
going to keep this tip handy when my students ask about pricing.

Are you where where your customers are?
I'll leave you with this interesting fact: More than three-fourths (77%) of the US internet audience viewed online
video in November 2008, driving the total of online videos viewed by US internet users to 12.7 billion, a 34% increase over the same period in 2007, according to data released by comScore.
That's it for now,
