Don't tell anyone, but I've
been dragging my feet about removing the "we accept money orders
and checks" line in my eBay Listings.
Last week I decided it was
time to just get it done and ended a little under 100 listings. You see, I
couldn't bulk edit them because I included the terms of service (TOS)
inside my customized description. So, each listing had to be edited
one at a time. I have great sympathy for sellers who have many more
listings they have to go through.
Besides the shear
overwhelming feeling of editing so many listings - was the fact that
these were fixed priced listings. Instead of revising the listings I had to end them
because
many of them had already had items that sold. Once you sell an item in
a eBay fixed (or store) listing you can't change the title or
description. It was like adding salt to the wound that many of these
items were regularly selling products, with a few of them having as
many as 55 watchers... I didn't want those potential buyers to think
the items were no longer for sale. But what can you do? Now the
listings show up in their watched area as 'ended.'
I did it, and have spent
several hours relisting the items.
About half way though - I
had a bit of an 'ah ha' moment and changed my listing strategy. I
decided to change my listing template so now if there is a field on the
'Sell Your Item' form I'll fill it
out during the listing process and only include specifics about the products in the description area. Back in the 'old days' of eBay it used to be important to fill in
TOS details in the description, but with the ever evolving policies on
eBay and updates of the Sell Your Item form - I don't think it's
necessary. Now, the next change that happens I should be able to
'bulk edit' through eBay's Selling Manager.
Speaking of eBay changes -
rumors are flying that there will be a big announcement from policy
makers about the Detailed Seller Ratings system. Keep an eye out -
I'll post about it on my blog
as soon as we hear.
A Word Of
Caution About Signature Lines
One of our group of
Amazon/eBay sellers just recently ran into a spot of trouble with
Amazon - without intending to. I wanted to pass this information along
because many of us have clickable email signature lines. (You
know those lines at the end of the email with a link back to our store
- see mine below).
Amazon is very clear that
they do NOT want you to direct traffic away from the site. However,
they do want you to update your buyer each step of the way through the
process of shipping.
Our unlucky seller, was
doing just that. She uses endicia.com to create the shipping label and to
automatically create the 'item shipped' email. The problem was (as far
as Amazon was concerned) is that the seller had a clickable link
directing off Amazon to her 'Everywhere I Sell' listing, which
includes links not only to her Amazon store, but to Bonanzle, eBay,
etc.
The bottom line is; be sure that you are not
sending traffic away from Amazon.com when you communicate with them.
Amazon doesn't even want you to put a flyer (other than the packing
slip) in the box when you ship items.
Want to
start building a passive income generator?
The
newly released "Make Money with eBay Affiliate Web
Sites" is selling really well and if you haven't purchased
yours yet - read on.
I
just received this wonderful email from Cindy Hamilton of Bombay Bongo:
The "Make Money with eBay Affiliate Web Sites" training on DVD is
absolutely full of concrete information that I started using right away.
I'm a seasoned eBay seller with two eBay Stores, but I never before
explored how I might use eBay's affiliate program. How to create a website
or blog outside of eBay was also new territory for me. This DVD is so
helpful as it is full of many screen shots to follow as you create your own
affiliate site. The instructions are clear, concise, and reassuring. I
even used this DVD to help me open my first account with a web hosting
company.
I'm so glad I got this new business tool! I look forward to establishing
multiple affiliate sites, each with a passive stream of income.

If you still haven't picked up your copy of the DVD I'm including a
bonus eBook called:
Mining
For Gold On The Internet With The Niche Detector
This eBook walks you
through step-by-step how to drill down and find a profitable
niche. With a few tools and a little detective work this book
helps you avoid unprofitable areas and shows you how to zero in on
products people want and will pay money for.
But hurry, this eBook
has great information I know many people would pay dearly for. I'm
considering pulling this bonus book and putting it up for sale as
a stand alone item.

A Big Congratulations To Walter
Griffin @ The Nashville Attic
Jim just had his store updated and redesigned by
Sharon Ware at www.DandelionConsulting.com
Here's his before and after photos:

While at first glance the changes may seem subtle
- combined with the new store display his store is now much
easier to navigate for a buyer. The thumbnails of the products
are easy to click on and the logo presents a very polished and
professional image. And best of all is Walter now has his newsletter
sign-up box up on top of the page where the buyers will
notice.
Congratulations Walter -
Oh, and everyone notice he's selling those Jazz
pocket video recorders :)
About Dandelion Consulting:
Sharon Ware is an expert designer and in addition to teaching all things eBay,
her specialty is eBay store set up or make-overs, SEO for eBay stores, set up of newsletter marketing, custom template design, training on Inkfrog, Auctiva, Sellersourcebook, Turbo Lister, Keepmore.net, Worldwide Brands, affiliate marketing, setting up a business and social networking, and I'm sure other things I just can't remember right now, LOL.
Better yet, she can easily train you no matter where in the world
you are located. She recently finished a job for a seller in Italy
and another in Canada who wanted to sell in Germany.
Sharon sent me over some statistics about her
design work - before and after. I love to hear hard facts about
whether or not designing a store makes a difference. She has
the proof. I'm not going to tell you here because I asked her
to do a fifteen minute demo about her findings. Keep an eye out
we'll put the interview up in the Web Sellers Circle.
Meanwhile, if you are looking for a store make-over contact Sharon

One Last
Word...

You have to help me out here - LOL. I set up this
scale as a demo for an eBay class several days ago and no one has
bid on it. I know the students are watching. What are they
going to think if no one bids on it? Here's
your chance to buy a really nice shipping scale for your business
- and it looks like it's going to go cheap - they normally sell in
my store for $34.98.
