Wow, I sure touched a lot of
people when I wrote about the eBay VeRO I received in the last
newsletter. I received so many emails and calls from other eBayers who
are going through some just crazy VeRO stuff I started to think
of the VeRO department as the Keystone Cops. I wrote about some of the
craziness
on my blog which
you can read here.
Because of the response I
thought I'd write a follow-up to let you know what happened
since the last newsletter.
First, I told you how I was
going to create an eBay ID and 'about me' page so I can protect myself
against others who violate my copyright. I did, and sent the 'about
me' page URL into eBay. Here's the response I received several days
later:
"Dear Cindy,
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your About Me page request.
To have a link to your About Me Page added to the list of Copyright,
Trademark, and Other Intellectual Property Rights Owners About Me pages,
you need to participate in the Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Program.
I've reviewed our records, and it doesn't appear that you are a current
VeRO Program participant. If you submitted a Notice of Claimed
Infringement and received an email welcoming you to the program, please
reply to this email with the company name and contact information from
your original fax.
If you have reported listings through the regular eBay policy violation
reporting methods, please understand that the VeRO program is separate.
For more information about the VeRO program, please go to:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/programs-vero-ov.html
Thank you for your time."
So, it appears the only way
to have a VeRO account is to actually have someone infringe on your
copyright - until then you can not be proactive and have a copyright
statement in place. Wow, that must make dealing with the VeRO
department frustration at both ends.
Moral of the story - don't
bother setting up an 'about me' page to protect potential copyrights
or stealing of photos, copy, etc until you know someone is actually
stealing them.

On getting the VeRO removed
- I won! Yes, I got them to remove the VeRO violation against me.
(Jumping for Joy here!). I waited five working days and notified the Trust and
Safety department that I hadn't been contacted by the
group claiming I'd violated their copy. The VeRO department notified them, and
they then contacted me. The long story short - they said that
they 'felt' like I may have been infringing and reported
me.
Without solid evidence
(which they didn't have) the seller contacted eBay and removed the VeRO.
The item is available to relist now and the ugly dashboard strike
is gone.
Do You Want To Learn
Where To Buy Products Wholesale?
Thanks to everyone who took
a second to fill out the survey about CJ's product sourcing class. CJ
and I are honored by the number of people who said they couldn't make
it to the class, but they'd really like to learn her secrets.
We were very pleasantly surprised
by how many of you contacted us and asked if we could record the
session. It was our intention to record her class and later turn
it into a DVD - but after the survey we decided to just go straight to
DVD.
Keep an eye out, CJ is
putting together an information packed program on finding items to
resell which we'll record and make available soon. I can hardly wait
myself - CJ has done it all when it comes to buying for retail. She's
been a corporate buyer, has even been to China and knows the ins and
outs of buying wholesale. CJ now spends her time as a collectibles
buyer, which means finding garage, estate, auction and consignment
items to sell on eBay.

The
newly released "Make Money with eBay Affiliate Web
Sites" is selling really well and if you haven't purchased
yours yet - read on.
Here's
what people are saying about the DVD:
"I recently
purchased Cindy Shebley's DVD Make Money With eBay Affiliate
Web Sites and it could not have come at a better time. Last year I
had joined the eBay Partner Network and that is as far as I had
gotten. My to-do-list for this year 2009 was to start using it. I
was fascinated when I saw this opportunity last year but got
sidetracked and now I am ready to get with the program as they
say.
I have always
gotten a lot from Cindy's classes and DVDs because she explains
things in terms a layman like myself can understand. It's clear
that Cindy really does want to educate and pass along her
knowledge and I certainly appreciate that. This DVD is in a format
that I can follow along with point by point at my own pace."

"Hi Cindy:
Just thought you
might want to know..after class yesterday and this
morning I worked on my EPN. I have already found a niche and have
everything set up. I'm exhausted but it is a good feeling.
Fingers
crossed I picked the right product. If not, I'll try again....the
hard work is done."

If you still haven't picked up your copy of the DVD I'm including a
bonus eBook called:
Mining
For Gold On The Internet With The Niche Detector
This eBook walks you
through step-by-step how to drill down and find a profitable
niche. With a few tools and a little detective work this book
helps you avoid unprofitable areas and shows you how to zero in on
products people want and will pay money for.
But hurry, this eBook
has great information I know many people would pay dearly for. I'm
considering pulling this bonus book and putting it up for sale as
a stand alone item.

Do you scout for
products to sell online by checking local venues?
Next week I'm interviewing
Dennis from neatoscan.com about their scouting tool.
It quickly scans the information from product barcodes and
let's know valuable sell through information on Amazon.com
Plus, Netoscan has
just released a new desktop evaluator for bulk items (like DVD
lots you might find on eBay to resell on Amazon).
Dennis gave me a trial
copy and I can really see the power of this tool. It gives data
such as the Amazon sales rank, highest and lowest price ranges,
etc. It also gives you the approximate value you can expect the lot
to sell for. This is pretty darn close to perfect for those who go
to auctions, store closing, eBay, etc and buy bulk lots to resell
on Amazon.
The interview with
Dennis will be pre-recorded and will be available later in the
week inside the membership area of websellerscircle.com
(remember
membership is free).
If you have any
questions you'd like me to ask about Netoscan products, please send
me an email.
Did You Know:
That 68% of Buyers Feel Compelled to browse
an online retail website after receiving a newsletter from the
store?
Figuring out when and which service to use for
your online business is confusing. If you are an eBay seller you
have certain restrictions other online sellers don't. You may not know
how to collect names or when's the best time to send out a
newsletter.
The thing about this series is Janelle shows you
which tool is the best for your business, when and how to send out
a newsletter and more. Janelle knows what she's talking about -
she's been using her newsletter to successfully build her business
for years now.

Amazon
Fulfillment (FBA) video
I just read a ChannelAdvisor White Paper that had some very interesting facts about buyer habits. One thing that popped out at me was this figure:
93% of online shoppers are Amazon buyers. If you
wonder about selling on Amazon - stop! Start looking at Amazon as
a potential way to grow your sales.
A few weeks ago, Janelle Elms and I talked
about the Amazon FBA program.
I invite you to find out more about it - the video
